Llega la peatonalización a Benito Corbal: se ejecutará en "enero o febrero"

Benito Corbal será peatonalizada después de Navidad. Es la principal actuación del Concello de Pontevedra dentro de una profunda reordenación del tráfico y la movilidad urbana en una de las zonas de mayor afluencia de automóviles y peatones. Y es que el gobierno local anuncia profundos cambios en las calles Sagasta, Cruz Gallástegui, Castelao, Daniel de la Sota y las dos calles de bajada que unen Benito Corbal con la plaza de Barcelos.
Pero vamos por partes. Benito Corbal. La calle comercial por excelencia cambiará su aspecto de forma radical. De acuerdo con las reiteradas peticiones de los comerciantes, entre ellos los de la Zona Monumental, se peatonalizará desde Sagasta hasta el cruce con Cobián Roffignac. Se creará una plataforma única adoquinada que, al estilo de la calle Michelena, pondrá al mismo nivel el actual asfalto con las aceras, que mantendrán su actual aspecto.
Se invertirán en esta actuación unos 60.000 euros, lo que convierte a esta reforma urbana, según el concejal de Mobilidade, Luis Bará, en una de las más "baratas" de las ejecutadas en la ciudad. Esto se debe a que, debido al buen estado de Benito Corbal, no hay que cambiar los servicios, por lo que no será necesaria excavación. "As molestias para comerciantes e residentes serán mínimas", dijo el edil nacionalista.
La presencia de barreras arquitectónicas hará imposible para el tráfico rodado continuar su circulación más allá de Vasco da Ponte, la primera calle de bajada entre Benito Corbal y la Plaza de Barcelos. Se inutiliza así, para los vehículos, el primer tramo de Sagasta, hasta el cruce con Castelao y Cruz Gallástegui. La solución será la misma que la planteada para Benito Corbal. Elevar el asfalto y crear, mediante una plataforma adoquinada, un único vial.

¿Y cómo harán los residentes de Benito Corbal para acceder a sus garajes? Tendrán que hacerlo por Daniel de la Sota. Lo que nos lleva a la siguiente gran actuación de este proyecto. La reordenación del sentido del tráfico en tres de las calles adyacentes. Se invierte la circulación en Cruz Gallástegui, Castelao y Daniel de la Sota, que para enlazar con Cobián Roffignac, se convierten en calles de salida de la ciudad.
Para aplicar estos cambios de circulación, los técnicos municipales estudian fórmulas mantener en la zona los actuales servicios de taxi y transporte urbano. "Esperamos que poidan manterse onde están, pero temos que estudalo e falalo con eles", explicó Bará.
Más actuaciones
Tras completar esta reordenación de una de las zonas de la ciudad con mayor afluencia de tráfico y peatones, el Concello de Pontevedra se pondrá manos a la obra con otra actuación, igualmente demandada. Se trata de la reforma de Loureiro Crespo, entre el cruce del Hospital Provincial y la calle Antón Fraguas. En ella, se dará una preferencia al uso peatonal. Se pretende ejecutar en el primer semestre de 2013.
Además, Bará destacó la importancia que, de cara a la movilidad urbana, tienen otras actuaciones que ya están ejecutando o lo harán en breve. Entre ellas, destacó las obras de la Plaza de la Herrería, la reordenación del Puente de los Tirantes o la mejora de las aceras en la Avenida de Lugo, entre Juan Carlos I y la gasolinera que está en la zona.
