The aquathlon took the stage of the 2019 ITU Pontevedra Multisport World Championships. Kevin Tarek Viñuela showed his top form and took the silver medal in the male elite competition. After finishing an excellent swim, he left transition in the lead, and on the run only Azerbaijan Rostislav Petsov, who showed great power, was able to pass him. Russian Dmitry Polyansky won the bronze medal.

In the female category, Polish Aljcia Ulatowska wore the gold medal in the elite race after overtaking the Hungarian Bragmayer Zsanett in an intense shoulder to shoulder race. The Mexican competitor Itzel Arroyo completed the positions of honour, while Sara Guerrero was the best Spanish after crossing the finish line in the twelfth place and finishing fourth in Under 23.

U23 AND JUNIOR CATEGORIES

In the men’s U23 and junior categories, Spain dominated the field. Ander Noain got the title of World Champion in U23 after an excellent swim and subsequently a great run. In addition, Andrés Cendán got on the podium to receive the bronze medal. Polish Kamil Damentka completed the positions of honor with his second position.

In the men’s junior category, Galician Esteban Basanta had a brilliant triumph. Jorge González completed the excellent performance of the Spaniards taking the silver medal, while the Ukrainian competitor Vitalii Vorontsov finished in third position. In the women’s junior race, the best Spanish was Clara Aulinas, who crossed the line in the sixth place. The triumph went to Italian Bianca Seregni.

The 2019 ITU Pontevedra Multisport World Championships Aquathlon race day was closed with a brilliant performance from the Spanish para-triathletes, who achieved six medals in the different categories in aquathlon. Ricard Marín was proclaimed champion of the PTS2 category and Juan Jesús Aguiar did the same in PTS4. Susana Rodríguez got first place in PTSVI. Antonio Franco and Lluis Marc Pellicer finished second and third respectively in PTS5 behind Japanese Tetsuki Kaji. Finally, José Manuel Quintero won the silver medal in PTWC after a competition that was only surpassed by Antonio Daniel Muller.
